Terms of use
These terms cover the free dating noticeboard at dateinoz.com, called DateInOz. [Company name], of [Registered address in Malaysia], operates the service from Malaysia. The service is open to adults worldwide and is focused on members in Oceania and Asia. The shorter house rules say the same limits in everyday language. If the two differ, these terms control.
Who may join
You must be at least 18, wherever you live. A lower local age for other purposes does not let you join. By creating an account you say that you are 18 or older, that the birthday you enter is yours, and that you will not post or request images or descriptions of anyone under 18. Accounts that appear to involve a child are closed. Where the law requires it, the operator will assist police.
Where the service is offered
Anyone who is 18 or older may create an account. DateInOz is focused on adults in Oceania and Asia, including Australia, New Zealand, Pacific island countries, and countries in Asia, and it does not refuse a member because they live somewhere else. The operator is established in Malaysia.
The service is ad-supported. There is no paid membership in this version. Messages are free. Display placements in the member list, under the member strip, and in a side column on a wide screen keep it free. Ads may be placeholders in a preview build. The operator does not introduce you to a particular person, does not check that another member is who they claim to be, and does not supervise meetings you arrange. You decide whether to write, call, or meet.
Your account
One person, one account. A second account, or the same photo on two accounts, can be closed. The username is chosen once and is not renamed. Keep the password to yourself. You are responsible for activity under your login until you tell the operator it is no longer yours.
An account that never finishes its profile is warned by email and then removed after 7 days. An account with no visit for 360 days is warned, then removed. You can delete the account from Settings. Deletion removes the profile and the messages sent and received on it, and it cannot be undone.
What you post
You keep ownership of the text and photos you upload. You give the operator a non-exclusive licence to store, scan, and display that material so the service can run: on your profile, in search, in messages to members you contact, and in moderation tools. The licence ends when the material is deleted, except for copies the law requires the operator to keep, or copies already delivered to another member before you deleted them.
Your main photo must be a recent picture of your own face. Swimwear and shirtless photos are allowed. Underwear or lingerie with nothing over it is held until a person approves or rejects it, and so is any photo the automatic check is unsure about. Those photos are not public while they wait. The service refuses nudity: exposed genitals, female nipples, bare buttocks, sexual acts, explicit sexual poses, and see-through clothing. Do not include a child. Do not show violence. If someone else is in the frame, hide their face. The operator may refuse a photo or take it down later.
How you treat people
Do not post sexual services, escorting, or any paid sexual arrangement, including hints in a username, a profile, or a public room. Do not ask a member for money, and do not offer money, gifts, or paid arrangements. Do not promote another website, app, or business, and do not drop links to take members elsewhere.
Do not threaten, hound, or humiliate anyone, and do not post abusive or racist material. Private messages are not scanned word by word. A member can still report them. The operator acts when several different members report the same problem. A burst of reports from related accounts is treated as one campaign, and those reporters can be closed for misusing the report button.
Moderation
The operator may remove any content or account, with or without notice, where these terms or the house rules are broken, or where the law requires it. Where a crime is involved, the operator cooperates with police. Decisions about reports are made for the safety of the service. They are not a finding by a court.
Calls and messages
Voice calls run in the browser between members who have already written to each other, and only while both allow calls. Withdrawing a message replaces it with a short placeholder for both people. It does not promise that the other person never saw the original.
Invitations
A personal invite link is for adults you actually know. Rewards are granted only when the invited adult joins and adds a photo that passes the photo check. Inviting yourself, or using a second email you control, does not qualify. The operator may refuse a reward that looks abusive.
Local rights
Nothing in these terms excludes a right that the law says cannot be signed away. Members in Malaysia keep the rights the Consumer Protection Act 1999 gives them where that Act applies. Members elsewhere keep the mandatory consumer protections of the country where they live.
Subject to those rights, the service is provided as it stands. The operator is not liable for what another member says or does, for a meeting you choose to attend, or for loss that was not a reasonably foreseeable result of a failure by the operator.
Changes and law
The operator may update these terms. The date at the top of a published version will change, and continued use after that date is acceptance of the update. If a change is material, the operator will give a notice on the site before it applies, where that is practical.
These terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia, as the operator’s home. The courts of Malaysia have non-exclusive jurisdiction. That choice does not stop you bringing a claim in the courts of the country where you live, where the law there gives you that right. How personal data is handled is described in the privacy notice, under Malaysia’s Personal Data Protection Act 2010.
