Dating in Oceania

Oceania covers a large part of the map and a small number of roads between places. Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, and the Pacific islands do not behave like one city with suburbs. DateInOz is focused on Oceania and Asia, run from Malaysia, and open worldwide. This page is about distance and the clock.

The distance is the fact

Two people can both be in Australia and still need a flight. Perth and Sydney are on opposite sides of the continent. A Pacific island and a mainland capital can be a rare ferry or an expensive flight apart. Write the city and the country. Oceania is the region this site cares about. It is not a meetup point.

Clocks that actually differ

Malaysia does not use daylight saving, and neither does Western Australia. Sydney is two hours ahead of Malaysia during Australian winter and three hours ahead during Australian summer. Auckland is four hours ahead of Malaysia in New Zealand winter and five hours ahead in New Zealand summer. Auckland stays about two hours ahead of Sydney. Perth matches Malaysia all year.

When you plan a call, convert it once and write both times into the message.

Islands and smaller places

If you live in a smaller city or on an island, say so. A profile that only names the country makes people assume the capital. Inter-island travel is often the hard part, not the chat. Be plain about whether you can travel, and when.

Search

The default search on DateInOz is Anywhere. Choose a city when you want people who named that place. The city directory is a list of saved places. It is not a ranking of which country is better to date in.
