Free online dating safety tips

These are ordinary precautions for a free dating site, written for DateInOz. They are not a guarantee, and they are not a story about a particular member. The site is for adults, 18 and over, and it is operated from Malaysia.

Money

Do not send cash, bank transfers, gift cards, vouchers, or cryptocurrency to someone you met here. Do not pay a verification fee, a travel deposit, or a bill they say is blocking a visit. DateInOz will not ask you to pay another member. If someone asks, stop, use Report, and choose the money reason.

Documents and addresses

A bank login, a photo of your identity card or passport, and your home address do not belong in an early chat. A rough part of the city is enough until you trust the person.

See a live face

Photos can be old, edited, or of someone else. A short video call, before you travel or invite anyone over, answers questions a gallery cannot. If the other person will only move to a different app, refuses any live conversation, and hurries you, you can leave the conversation there.

The first meeting

Pick a public place you can leave. Arrange your own way home. Tell a friend the time, the place, and who you are meeting. You do not owe a second drink or a second meeting.

  • Keep the early messages on DateInOz so a report has something to point at.
  • Block stops that person from messaging you or opening your profile. Report is a separate step.
  • The desk treats one report as a signal and looks for several different members describing the same problem.

Children

Do not post a child, and do not ask anyone for a photo of a child. Accounts that appear to involve anyone under 18 are closed.
